Caster's Blog: A Geek Love Story

Based on a true story that never happened.

About the hoax:

It all started with a simple question: Would it be possible to create an online persona ordinary enough to be taken as a real person, yet extraordinary enough to keep the interest of an audience?

To find out, Marcus Alexander Hart secretly kept a blog under the guise of mild-mannered geek Ray Caster for one full year. Soon many online friends were following and commenting upon Caster's daily adventures, none of them aware that he was a fictional character.

Today you can read the entire experiment in a single volume entitled, Caster's Blog: A Geek Love Story.

About the story:

Ray Caster gets no respect. And why should he? He spends weekends home alone with his TiVo when his friends forget to call. He takes up the slack for his abusive co-workers, silently enduring until he can clock out. His failure to assert himself has turned him into such a reclusive, passive-aggressive bore that he is caught completely unprepared when he meets the girl of his dreams.

Thankfully, Caster has a blog, and a collection of online friends who've gathered to enjoy his diatribes on everything from pop culture to his own pathetic life. Soon he enlists their help in his quest to win the girl. But what begins as a little advice for the lovelorn soon becomes a full-blown romantic campaign that would put Cyrano de Bergerac to shame.

Can Caster overcome his psychotic co-workers, his well-wishing friends, and the black hole of his own security long enough to take hold of his own destiny, and maybe even get the girl in the end?
